Thoughts

Sis. Griffiths was one of my early musical mentors. I had the honor of being one of the charter member of the Bethel Children's Choir in the early 1980s (now the Angelic Voices). During our rehearsals she taught us the importance of proper breathing, pronouncing our words when we sing, etc.. I remember our first uniforms: white shirt or blouse, red vests, navy blue bottoms (pants for boys, skirts for girls). She took a special interest in me, and gave me opportunities to use my gift of song for the glory and honor of God. She prepared me to sing the solo piece "Love Grew Where the Blood Fell" for Easter Sabbath (I had to remove my pretty hat while singing it so it wouldn't distract from the important message of the song). She also prepped me to sing in the alto section of the Sanctuary Choir one Sabbath (I was 11 or 12 years old). Such a thrill and an honor. She loved me all these years, and I loved her! She always thought of me. My mom told me recently that when I was raising money to go back to Andrews, she spread the word to everyone to help my efforts. She came to our wedding. She sent a card of love when we came back to Brooklyn to have our son dedicated at Kingsboro Temple. I wish I could have talked to her on the phone before her passing. I would have loved to sing to her one more time. But I will always remember her. As a gospel artist and songwriter, I will be mindful of all she taught me as I minister in song to others. As a wife and mother, I am inspired by her legacy as a Christian woman. May the Lord continue to bless and comfort her precious family and friends with the blessed hope of His soon return. I look forward to seeing her again in the new earth, where we will sing together in His presence! Sincerely, Mrs. Marsena Anderson Cook Birmingham, Alabama

Auntie (MOM) thank you for the love, wonderful counsel and direction in which you supported my life from a young child and poured onto my ten children every day. You exemplified the positive role model by living a christian life thru stewardship, song and service. Until we meet again on that great getting up day! ~ Ty For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
